Come and sit a spell
Let's talk about how things are, how things could be,
and the state of life in general
and the state of life in general
What Napoleon Hill is talking about here is a personality that attracts, not how attractive you are. What he is saying is that your personality is everything about you. Your clothes, face, voice, thoughts, character all go into making you who you are. First impressions are indeed based on appearance. We can never get past this. The handshake you give. The eye contact that you make with a prospective client, student, customer, employer, employee, friend, roommate, lover, etc. Your body vitality or magnetism or charisma, whatever you call it, is also a part of who you are and the personality that you exude when first meeting someone. Be genuinely interested in your clients, customer or even co-workers. NO cheap flattery just to make an impression or get ahead. Take an interest in other people and their work, business or profession. Remember again the Golden Rule - if you want people to be interested in you then you need to take an interest in other people. To develop an attractive personality select those whose character (or qualities) you respect and with to emulate. Imagine yourself with their character and qualities and then visualize yourself becoming like this person. Each day, find at least one person to praise about something, but be genuine. Get into the habit of looking for and finding the good qualities in others. By finding something good about someone you help them to possibly see the good things in you also. Using affirmation, speak the affirmation that states the desired qualities you have to develop an attractive personality. This speaking sets into motion the Universal vibration through which these qualities will begin to develop in your subconscious. One of the best qualities to develop, according to Hill, to have an attractive personality is the ability to speak. (Note to self to watch The King's Speech.) Speech and the way that you express yourself also expresses your personality. Fluency of speech is the ability to speak correctly and is something to be developed. Another aspect of our personality is the way that we dress and in order to obtain our definite purpose, we need to dress "as if". Now, I'm not saying go out and buy expensive items but at the very least you can "dress of success" at the level that you can afford. My daughters and I make a habit of shopping the sales racks in retail stores and also go to the Salvation Army and Goodwill or consignment stores. You would be amazed at the number of name brand or designer clothes that can be had at these places for just a fraction of their original cost. And it very good condition. Now I am not saying that certain brands or better than others or that you need to dress against your personality. What I am saying is that in many cases in order to achieve your definite purpose, you may need to make some concessions to first get to that place. Many time once you get there and have made your mark, you will be able to bring your own personality to that place. I also find it hard for someone who does not have the existing personality for a certain profession to change completely for a new profession. But then again, if you want something bad enough. Napoleon Hill summarized the following as the chief factors of an attractive personality: Interest yourself in others and speak to them of their good qualities Develop the ability to speak with force and conviction in both conversation and public speaking. Clothe yourself in a style become to you and the work you do. Develop a positive character Learn how to shake hands to express warmth of feeling and enthusiasm Attract other people to you by first attracting yourself to them Remember that your only limitation, within reason, is the one you set up in your own mind. You will develop the art of being agreeable - you will end up doing business with people you like. Speak ill of no man, but speak all the good you know of everybody. - B. Franklin

It has recently occurred to me that all of the great scholars, lecturers and sages were saying the exact same thing. So it is nothing new or even revolutionary what the newest New Age thinkers are saying because they are saying the exact same thing. It just needs to be said in different ways so that everyone can get it.
How about a Loyalty Program?
A Loyalty Program can be an effective way to give your clients the incentive to return to you on a regular basic and more frequently. And it doesn't benefit just your clients - you can use it to reward specific behaviors from your clientele. Loyalty programs have been proven to drive business. Don't we all have a fistful of Loyalty Cards for everything from bagels to zoo passes. (couldn't come up with an A example quickly!) Why, I even have mine in an app on my smartphone and many of the grocery stores that I frequent just scan them in! Bottom line, customers expect loyalty programs from businesses. Period. Studies have shown that there are more than 2.6 billion loyalty program memberships in the U.S. with the average U.S. household active in 6.6 programs. Research has also shown that members not only spend more when they visit, they also visit about 20% more often than non-members. A good loyalty program, paired with excellent service keeps clients coming back through your doors. And loyalty programs can be as easy as getting 10 extra minutes after 5 paid massages or purchasing a specific number of massages at a reduced price! Or have them accumulate points based on the massage service you are providing. But before you automatically enroll your clients in a loyalty program, ask them to participate. If there is paperwork involved this will keep only those clients that are interested in a program enrolled. However, once you explain your program to a client, why wouldn't they all want in? Asking them to participate gives you a chance to explain the program and its benefits to them So how do you benefit? Once your program is set up and your clients are enrolled, you should begin to see an increase in repeat business. Clients are more apt to reschedule if they are rewarded for it so make sure you design your program with that in mind. And make it easy for clients to accumulate their savings, rewards or points and also then use them! Increased client retention and client services are your goals while providing excellent customer service and rewards to your clients! It costs 6 times more money to acquire a new client than it does to retain an existing client!
AND, repeat clients spend 67% more than a new client will. So, take the time to keep your current clients happy and coming back! BASICS First impressions are the longest lasting. We've all heard the saying "You don't get a second chance to make a first impression". Well, it's true. A positive first impression/experience will make them more likely to return again and again. Studies have shown that your client will visually assess both you and your place of business in the first seven (7!) seconds! How long does it take you or the front desk person to get to them when they come in the door? Because, if you can speak to them you might get 30 seconds to make that first impression. With online interaction most often being their first interaction with you, what does you website or social medial page say about you? When the client makes the call or visits your office, make sure that knowledgeable and friendly staff is there to greet them. Make sure you speak clearly, use their name if it is a new scheduled client and engage the client in conversation. That first impression really does mean a lot, so... What does your office look like? Little things make a big impact when a client walks through the door that first time. Is your facility clean. Is your staff appropriately dressed (uniform, common attire such as all in khaki or black pant, all with white shirts or polo shirts, etc.)? Are there current magazines in the waiting area? Is the music appropriate to the atmosphere you wish to relay to the client? Are retail items available for purchase with correct pricing in place? Remember that even a small disappointment in your office environment can add up to an underwhelming experience for your client. This can be especially important if you share office space with someone not in the same business as you! Are you selling retail products? And do they compliment what your services provide? Studies indicate that a customer/client is approximately 50% more likely to return to your business when they can purchase a retail product from you. In my experience I have even had people that were not originally my client come into my office because they heard from one of my clients that I had a certain product for sale! Client will be much for likely to return if they can buy the product that you may be using in their session also. And it also helps if you take credit cards too! So these are the basics - next post I will address some tactics that others, including me, have used to get clients in the door and keep them after that first appointment. The Heart Chakra (Anahata) is located in the physical area of the heart in the body. The color of this chakra is universally depicted as green, however some people will say that pink is an accepted color also. This color results from the combining of the root chakra at the lowest level and uses white as the crown chakra color instead of the more common violet to make the color pink. This also goes along with the belief that the heart chakra serves to balance the lower 3 chakras with higher 3 chakras.
With the color of pink the gemstone most often associated with the heart chakra is the Rose Quartz, however peridot can also be used to balance this chakra. The Endocrine gland associated with the heart chakra is the thymus. This gland, although technically part of the endocrine system is more often related to the immune system since it is where the cells that help us fight infections, namely T cells, mature. This gland is also a regulator/balancer as we grow to help us to fight off sickness and to build up our immune system as we grow. The central issue of the Heart Chakra is love and relationships. It is where we build up our self acceptance through balance, compassion and good relationships. Our motives and rights here are to love and be loved and we identify with the social aspects of our lives. Our demon, that which can make us "sick" at this chakra is grief. The loss of love or a loved one affects this chakra deeply. When this chakra is in excess there is codependency, poor boundaries, possessiveness and jealousy. When this chakra is deficient the person may be shy, lonely or isolated. Additional problems when the heart chakra is deficient could be bitterness and a lack of empathy. When the heart chakra is deficient the person may also have a critical nature as love is lacking in their life. This chakra's main emotions deal with love, relationships and the social aspects of each. It also balances the chakras above and below. The Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) is located in the area of the naval (belly button). The color of the solar plexus (or stomach) chakra is yellow and its location is at the solar plexus around the area of the navel. It emanates out from the body front and back.
I often refer to this chakra as the stomach chakra but it's true location is at the mass of the small intestine. It is associated with the endocrine system through the pancreas which secretes insulin or glucagon into the blood stream depending on the need for glucose in the body. It is therefore a part of the digestive system as is the small intestine which is where the food the food that we take in is processed and distributed to the cells. This chakra is a center for processing and orients to our own self-definition with the central issue of power and will. It is our center for vitality, spontaneity and purpose. Our self-esteem lives here. Out "gut" instincts live here as does our ego. We process and act on things in our life from this center. The alter side is that shame also live here. The element is fire as this is what make a furnace work to process what it is "fed" When this chakra is in excess the person can be dominating, blaming, aggressive and constantly active. A scattered personality exists when this chakra is in excess. When this chakra is deficient the person will be weak willed, have poor self esteem and be passive, sluggish and fearful. This person may actually obsess on one particular item or thing or thought. The gemstone most often associated with this chakra is yellow topaz. Another year is about to come to an end and with it I hope to incorporate some changes into my life.
In 2015 we are building a house on the mountain! You will be privy to that as it happens. AND I will finally have my dream kitchen! In 2015 I will be doing a log of blogging - filling the internet with my own special brand of special. Giving hints, tips and techniques on all of my favorite interests. Some will be free some will have a minimal cost associated with them but I hope that they all are fun! In 2015 I will go on a cruise (it's already booked and paid for), I will spend a month in Oregon with my oldest daughter (July is the currently scheduled month) and did I mention that I will blog incessantly? In 2015 I will downsize my garden a bit. Not the size really but the amount of different things that I grow. There are many things that I grow best and many things that just take too much time and effort and therefore will be purchased at farmer's market instead of my trying to grow them. Peas, you're out of here! Onions and garlic you are my new favorites! Tomatoes will be limited to the varieties that I enjoy eating off the vine and green beans will be in a smaller row. The strawberries have already been rototilled into the garden. Flowers are just so much easier and I have enough tomato juice for another 2 years I think! In 2015, I will be holding a number of Infinite Possibilities seminars that will have a cost associated with them! I've tried the free ones and no one takes me seriously, well now you can ante up and be committed to learning how to change your life! In 2015, I will spend some time "on the road" with my youngest daughter as she begins her dream of being a gypsy for a while. (And not just at the Ren Faire!) In 2015 I will spend Thanksgiving at the Texas Renaissance Faire! In 2015 my husband and I will spend some more time "practicing" retirement! So are your Chakras in alignment?
Root - basics - food, home, earth, grounding, stability, safety and security Sacral - ability to keep a spouse or relationship with another, nurturing, change, passion - procreation Stomach - Solar Plexus - metabolism, self-esteem, digesting, processing - processing things coming into your life and the communication with self and others Heart - relationships, love, compassion, caring, content Throat - communication, listening Third Eye - Intellect, sight, imagination, visualizing Crown - a relationship with a higher power, clear thoughts, open-minded Think about what is going on in your life right now, right this minute. Not went on yesterday or what you think might happen tomorrow - think about what is going on right now. Because that is also what is going on with your chakras. How you feel about each of the items listed for each chakra can tell you about the chakra itself. If there is not balance in any of the areas then that chakra may be the one that needs your attention. Do a quick self-balancing exercise. Think about your root chakra and imagine a time when you felt the most secure and grounded. Imagine an amazing family dinner in the comfort and warmth of your family or a time when you were in nature and surrounded by Mother Earth. Think about your sacral chakra and imagine the best sex you have ever had. Remember the passion and the relationship that made it possible. Think about your stomach chakra and imagine the best meal that you ever ate or if your job involves the processing of information the most difficult project that you were able to process easily and gain recognition for. Think about your heart chakra and imagine a loving relationship that you have had with a significant other, a parent or child or even a favorite pet. Think about your throat chakra and imagine the best conversation that you had with someone where you were able to communicate your thoughts and feelings openly and honestly. Think about your third eye chakra and use it to imagine and visualize the ability that you have to be intuitive in your daily life and dealings with others. Think about your crown chakra and think about your spirituality and your relationship with a higher power and how you can connect with the infinite-ness at any time. First of all, the Endocrine System is one of the major control systems in the human body. The Nervous System is the first and fastest through our large nerve network connected to the brain. But the Endocrine System is also a major player via the use of hormones in our bloodstream. Hormones are the language for cellular communication. There are two types of glands within the body - exocrine and endocrine glands. Exocrine glands have ducts that carry their secretions to specific locations - think sweat glands that carry from the gland itself to the outside of the body. Endocrine glands are ductless glands that release their secretions directly into the bloodstream. It is the Endocrine glands that relate to our Chakras.
To understand their relationship to the Chakras you need to understand some of the general functions of the Endocrine System. They are as follows:
Root Chakra - Adrenal Gland - this gland is situated directly above/on each of our kidneys, just above the level of the Root chakra and is a major player in our fight or flight stress reactions. It also has a small role in the male and female sex hormones. Sacral Chakra - Ovaries/Testes - these glands are the ones responsible for reproduction and are therefore directly related to the functions of the Sacral Chakra and our need to procreate. Solar Plexus Chakra - Pancreas - since the Solar Plexus is directly over the stomach/intestine area and has much to do with digestion it is only appropriate that its' gland is the pancreas which has a direct effect on and is affected by what we eat. Heart Chakra - Thymus - this gland is situated between the lungs behind the heart and is responsible for promoting the development of special immune system cells called T-ymphoctyes which help to fight infection. As such it is also a part of the Lymphatic System in the body, much as the Heart Chakra balances the lower three chakras with the upper three. Throat Chakra - Thyroid Gland - this gland is in control of our metabolism rate and essential for normal growth and nerve development. It is situated in the throat just below the Adam's apple. Third Eye Chakra - Pituitary Gland - this gland is two distinct lobes and has a link to the Nervous System through another gland called the Hypothalmus. It is sometimes referred to as the Master Gland since much of the information sent from here in the form of hormones regulates other glands. It sits deep in the brain at a location directly in line with the Third Eye. Crown Chakra - Pineal Gland - This gland is located near the center of the brain and controls the hormone melatonin which is responsible for sexual development and circadian rhythms such as sleep patterns, hibernation and metabolism. Some shamanic beliefs associate this gland with the connection between the earthly realm and the spirit world. |
